How to Maintain Cartridge Filters

Cartridge filters eliminate the need for weekly backwashing but should be cleaned 2-3 times per season. Clean them when the PSI on the pressure gauge reads 6+ psi above the initial pressure or exceeds 18 psi overall, as this indicates clogging that can obstruct water flow and affect pool function. Follow the owner’s manual for proper removal and cleaning. Once per year—ideally after closing—rinse and use Filter Brite for a deep clean to extend filter life and ensure they’re ready for spring
