There’s no reason to be freezin’ this winter with your own homemade towel warmer! Learn how to make yours in our new 30-second do-it-yourself video.
There’s nothing like going for a luxurious winter soak in your hot tub, feeling all nice and toasty, only to be shocked when you put on a freezing towel or robe when you get out.
Just the thought of it sends shivers down my spine…
Whether your towel or robe is hanging on a hook, folded on your hot tub steps, or placed on the ground, it’s going to get cold or attract dirt and grime. If they get wet from rain or snow, your towel or robe could actually freeze. Nobody likes that after having fun in the tub!
Wouldn’t it be better to get out of the hot tub water to enjoy the warmth of clean, heated towels, or a nice toasty bathrobe?
You could invest in an electric towel heater, but in my experience these bulky, expensive (minimum starting prices range from $300 – $600) tend to break easily. Plus, you’ll have to plug it in outside, likely using an extension cord – never a fun prospect when the temperatures are dropping!
However, did you know that you could make your own homemade outdoor hot tub towel and robe warmer using items you have around your home right now? I do this whenever I’m hot tubbing in cold weather – and it works great every time!
What you need to make your DIY hot tub towel and robe warmer:
- Towels and/or robes
- 3 – 4 microwaveable heating packs (the same kind you use for camping or pain relief, or you can make your own!)
- 1 cooler or large thermal container
What you do:
- Place the towels and/or bathrobes in your clothes dryer for about 10 minutes
- Warm up the heater packs in the microwave per the manufacturer’s instructions
- Place the heated packs on the top and bottom of the towels and robes in the cooler, and close the cooler lid
The towels and robes will stay toasty warm from the heat on both sides of the heating packs. By closing the lid, you’ll prevent any heat from escaping, as well protect your towels and robes from snow, dirt, and other elements.
The results are warm, clean towels and robes that enhance the luxurious experience of winter hot tubbing at a fraction of the cost of buying an electric towel heater. If you wear sandals or flip flops out to the hot tub, kick those into your homemade towel and robe heater to give your feet a nice, toasty home as well, and prevent dirt and muck from being tracked into your hot tub water by not walking barefoot to the tub.
With this do-it-yourself hot tub towel and robe heater, there’s no reason to be “freezin’” when you’re hot tubbing this winter. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!
